Welcome to the big map of our family adventures. This is where Fork & Flag Travels keeps track of everywhere Sam, Sofia, and Donna have actually been together — from quick UK day trips to planes, trains, and “are we nearly there yet?” journeys further afield.
Every destination here comes with two voices: Dad’s practical brain (parking, prices, timings) and Sofia’s 11-year-old honesty (fun score, boredom level, snack situation, and of course: toilets). If it was brilliant, we’ll say so. If it was a bit meh, we’ll say that too.
Think of this page as your friendly shortcut to “What is this place actually like with kids?” — before you pack the car, book the tickets, or promise anyone ice cream.

Each destination guide is a mix of story, review, and “wish we’d known that before we left” notes. Expect:

- Weekend escapes — family-friendly stays, walkable towns, and how to fit “one more thing” into a short break without tears.
- Further afield adventures — city breaks, sunshine holidays, and those big trips where you need to know if the pool, food, and beds are kid-approved.
- Real-life logistics — travel times, queues, buggy-friendliness, where to eat nearby, and how much it really costs when you factor in snacks.
- Facilities & toilets intel — cleanliness, queues, changing spaces, and the all-important “can I hold it?” verdict from Sofia.
How we review each place
Sam’s take (Dad)
Sam is on a mission to answer the questions parents actually have: Is it worth the ticket price? How busy does it get? Is the website being optimistic about “easy parking”? He’ll talk timings, routes, food options, and whether he’d do it again.
Sofia’s verdict (age 11)
Sofia scores everything on the only scales that matter: fun level, boredom risk, snack quality, and toilet situation. She’ll tell you if a place is actually good for kids or just looks good in photos, and which bits younger siblings might find scary or boring.
Together, we keep things honest, light, and useful — like getting a debrief from friends who went first (and aren’t afraid to talk about the loos).
